Rensselaer - James R. Bushnell, 79, passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Inca, and his stepson, Simon Mikluszka; his brother, Dan (Pam) and their son, Brett; his brother, Mike (Maria); and his sister, Andrea. He was predeceased by his parents, L. Robert and Sarah Bushnell.

Jim graduated from Kingston High School, where he shone as a star in the school play and was honored to serve as King of the senior prom. After a brief time at Clarkson University on a baseball scholarship, Jim joined the Marine Corps, where he served as a mechanic on the flight line at Cherry Point. In addition to his talent as a baseball player, Jim was an accomplished guitarist and singer, inspired by the music of Johnny Cash and Chet Atkins.

Following his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Jim suffered a serious motorcycle accident that left him with lifelong handicaps. Despite this, he lived a rich and fulfilling life, frequently traveling with his beloved wife, Inca. Jim was always a kind and gentle soul, loved by all who knew him.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at New Rural Cemetery, 330 3rd Avenue Ext, East Greenbush.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Michael Krastins, Dr. Donald Higgins, and the entire staff at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim's name to the American Parkinson Disease Association, P.O. Box 61420, Staten Island, NY 10306.
