Nardacci, Jacqueline P. RENSSELAER. Jacqueline P. Nardacci, 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Jackie endured a long battle with various types of cancer, which began three decades ago when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. Born on May 23, 1950, Jackie was the daughter of Fred Nardacci and Geraldine Nardacci (Nolan) of Broadway. She was a graduate of Mercy High School ('69) and attended St. John's Academy for elementary school. She was a lifelong communicant of St. John's Parish in Rensselaer. Jackie was a consummate professional, and spent time in both the private sector and public sector. She worked for thirty years at BASF Corporation in Rensselaer serving as Purchasing Agent, and stayed close with many colleagues after the Rensselaer Plant closed down. She later served in the Office of the Mayor at Rensselaer City Hall, then in the Radio & Television Department and later as Deputy Director of Purchasing/Contracts of the New York State Assembly, where she retired. She was also proud of her service as Alderwoman of Rensselaer's 4th Ward, following in the footsteps of her father, Fred, who once held the same seat. Jackie served in elective office at the same time as her sister Maureen, the elected City Clerk. And like all of her siblings, Jackie worked in the family's store on Broadway throughout her life. Jackie was predeceased by many family members she was close to including her father, Fred. She was also predeceased by her grandmother, Angelina Nardacci (Battista), and her beloved uncle, Anthony (Tony) Nardacci, both of whom she served as primary caregiver. Survived by her mother Geraldine, and siblings Kathy Nardacci (Josie), Geraldine "Sissy" O'Connell (Tim, Timmy), Maureen Nardacci (Jennifer, Thomas), John Nardacci (Linda, Ava, Anthony) and Lisa Alteri (Rick, Ashley), and many nieces, nephews and cousins including, Theresa Farrell (Tim, Griffin), Jennifer Nardacci (Kelly, Carly, Kevin), Thomas Nardacci (Anne, Marie, Thomas). Also among her nieces and nephews were many godchildren, including Thomas J. O'Connell, Griffin Farrell, Ashley Alteri and Anthony Nardacci. Jackie loved her family and loved her community. She loved spending time with her mother and sisters on Cape Cod each year, and enjoyed going to Saratoga Race Course with Uncle Tony throughout her life. She also loved attending school events, games and performances by her nieces and nephews. Jackie was a member and volunteer of many organizations and civic groups during her lifetime. She was active in many organizations committed to research and education about breast cancer. Jackie was a source of information and inspiration for many women battling the disease. Other groups important to her included St. John's Rosary Altar Society, Sons & Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors, Rensselaer Democratic Committee, Rensselaer Women's Democratic Club, and New York State Notaries Association. Through the years, Jackie received incredible medical care. Special thanks to Dr. Mary Ellen Drislane for her love and compassion the last 25 years, to Dr. Janet Gargiulo, Jackie's friend and former Oncolcogist, to Dr. Makenzi Evangelist, Nicole and Matt, and the nursing staff in the infusion room from NYOH at Albany Medical Center, and to Jackie's Hospice team, Beth, Sandy, Maggie and Jolene. A special thank you to the Sisters of Mercy for their many prayers offered in Jackie's name over the course of her courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Friday September 28, 2018 10am at St. John's Church, Rensselaer where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. Relatives and friends may call at W.J. Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer on Thursday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish to remember Jackie in a special way may donate in her name to The Community Hospice Foundation, 310 South Manning Blvd, Albany NY 12208.
