Harold Roberts

Rensselaer, NY - Harold L. Roberts, 80, passed away suddenly on August 15, 2017 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by family. Hank was born in Cortland, NY on January 1, 1937 to the late Charles and Esther (Nye) Roberts. He was a long time resident of Dryden, NY and New Port Richey, FL, before moving to Rensselaer, NY. Hank served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1963, and additionally fourteen years in the United States Army Reserve. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in 1966, and continued to work at his alma mater for over 30 years. Hank served as president and member of the board for Cornell Federal Credit Union; past president and member of Kiwanis Club of Dryden; lector, usher and parish council member for Holy Cross Parish in Dryden, NY; and many other community organizations and clubs wherever he lived. Hank was a kind, gentle, good man who always put other people first. He is predeceased by his brothers Richard Roberts and Stanley Roberts. Hank is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen (Kero) Roberts, his children Theresa Roberts of Troy, NY, Christopher Roberts of Jackson, LA, and Charles (Catherine) Roberts of Middletown, RI; his grandchildren Lauren, Michael, Taylor, Masen and Owen; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Calling hours will be held at Holy Cross Parish, 375 George Road, Freeville, NY on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 10 a.m. to Noon, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial immediately after. Burial will be held at Saint Anthony's Cemetery in Groton, NY. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association in Hank's honor.
