Harold Price

May 23, 1940 — March 5, 2016

ALBANY - Harold Price made his peaceful celestial departure on March 5, 2016, surrounded by his loved ones. Skeet was born on May 23, 1940 in Catskill, NY to Harold and Catherine (Christiana) Price. He was the eldest of 8 children. Skee was predeceased by his brothers George "Buddy" and Stanley, his sisters Linda Carkner and Nettie Price, and his daughters Denise DePerna/Brady and Wendy Butterworth. He is survived by his brothers Ronald (Christina) and Paul (Glenda England), his sister Catherine, his son Ricky Rockenstire (Bettyann), daughters Faith "Princess" Raybine and Monica Butterworth, as well as 13 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and the love of his life Nathalie Evans. Skeet loved his family beyond measure. It was very important to him to have them there as he made his journey into God's Kingdom. In 1958, he served our nation in the US Navy. He spent the better part of his adult life traveling the countryside while working for both James E. Strates and Gillette carnival shows. He was very artistic and toyed with making room décor out of driftwood and painting wall murals. Skee spent much of his time hunting and target practicing with both gun and bow. He could shoot the center out of a dime from 200 yards and broke many an arrow by hitting them piggy back at 60 yards during target practice. He loved WC Fields jokes, and could recite them back to back. His uncanny ability to perform magic tricks was enjoyed by people of all ages. Skee was an avid card, dart and pool player, and the thought of playing for money enticed him. If you've come across him in an area bar, you probably left with empty pockets! The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Samaritan Hospital ICU and their Hospice staff for the incredible care they provided during Skee's 20 day stay with them. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Wednesday prior to the service from 4-7 pm.
