Gregory P. Schreffler

Gregory P. Schreffler entered eternal life on January 22, 2023 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Mount Vernon, NY to the late Charles and Ann (Carensky) Schreffler and spent his teen age years in Columbia County, where his mother owned a farm. Gregory was the beloved husband of Lynna Kreeber Schreffler, who passed away in 1977. In addition to his parents and his first wife, Gregory was predeceased by his brother, John and his sister Diana (Audrey). He is survived by his brother Roger, as well as his partner for the last 12 years, her daughter, two beloved daughters and four grandchildren. Gregory graduated from Siena College and received a Master’s in Public Administration from Russell Sage College. Among his many career highlights, he was proud of serving in the Army Reserves, creating the New York State Police Financial Crimes Unit, serving the public at the New York State Racing and Wagering Board and the State Inspector General’s Office. Gregory was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a Certified Fraud Examiner. The family would like to thank the health care staff of Albany Medical Center and Dr. Gary Bakst for their compassion, care and support to both Gregory and his family. Private services will be held.
