Gary Wagstaff

Troy-Gary P. Wagstaff age, 57 years, passed away at his residence on Friday, July 8, 2016. He was born in Troy and was a lifelong resident of the city. Gary was a US Navy veteran. He was employed as a heavy truck technician for many years at Dawson's Body Shop Inc. in Watervliet. Gary was a longtime member of the Emerald Athletic Club in Troy. He loved his NASCAR, NY Yankees, NY Giants and NY Rangers. Gary was an avid fan and player of hockey, being a goalie for many years. Son of the late William F. and Angela Marie DeBonis Wagstaff, Sr.; brother of the late William F. Wagstaff, Jr.; beloved family member of Ron and Denise Dawson, Jr. and their children Ron (Kristi) Dawson, III and Diana Dawson, and their grandchildren Maisie, Ronny, IV and Cole Dawson. Today we lost the heart of our family. He may not have shared our last name but he shared every meaningful life event and every insignificant moment with us. He was a best friend to our entire family. I can't think of a more loyal or selfless man. Special friend of Melvin Skpowski. Cousin of Debbie Scarchilli, Richard Scarchilli, Doreen Scarchilli and John DeFrancesco. Also survived by several more cousins and many friends. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Tuesday morning July 12, 2016 at 10:00. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-8 pm. Interment with military honors in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
