Rensselaer-Frederick G. Lamphere passed away November 2, 2015 at Albany Medical Center after a struggle with a brief illness. He was born on May 30, 1948 in Albany. Fred was a graduate of Phillip Schuyler High School and served in the US Air Force, was the owner of Godfrey's Restaurant in Albany and was an IT Manager for the office of the Comptroller until his retirement in August. He was predeceased by his parents and numerous brothers and sisters. Fred loved to travel, play cards, and would always drop whatever he was doing to help someone in need. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Joanne, his sons Scott (Jessica) and Brian (Jamie) and his grandchildren Brendan, Garrett, Kellan and Ryleigh. Poppy will always love you. He also leaves behind many loved members of extended family and friends. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Saturday morning at 10:00. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and call at the funeral home Friday from 4-7 pm. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. His family would like to thank the staff of Albany Medical Center who took such good care of him during his stay. You are wonderful people. Contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, a cause Fred believed in and held dear.
