Troy- Eva A. Fredricks 87, a longtime resident of Troy, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 3, 2023. Born in Corinth, she was the daughter of the late William F. Smith and Grace and Cameron Connors. In her younger days Eva was a waitress and a homemaker. She had many interests including enjoying the sun by the pool, painting, camping, and annual apple picking with her family and friends. Eva also enjoyed traveling to the casino with her daughters, playing bingo, cards and completing puzzles. She was an excellent baker and would regularly bake for her family and friends. Eva’s greatest passion was poetry and was also a published poet.
In addition to her father, mother and stepfather, she is predeceased by her husband Edward E. Fredricks, Jr.; her son, Edward (Deb) Fredricks III; daughters Carole (Scott) Selby, Mary Theresa and her siblings William F. Smith and Patricia McLaughlin. She is survived by her children, Deb (Lou) Desso, William (Barb) Fredricks, Betty (Norm) Lester, Denise (Ron) Dawson, Bonnie (Ted) Ritrovato, Cameron (Karen) Fredricks, Arthur (Sandy) Fredricks, Robert (Diane) Fredricks and Thomas Fredricks. She is also survived by twenty two grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 5:00pm at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave. Rensselaer. Relatives and friends are invited to call prior to the service from 2:00-5:00pm. Interment will be on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 10:30am in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital, step down/medsurg unit and Van Rensselaer Manor for the care and compassion offered during their time of need.
