Ernest Filkins

Schodack- Ernest J. "Pete" Filkins age 88 of Schodack passed away on Wednesday August 24, 2016. He was born in Berne, NY and resided in East Greenbush before moving to Schodack in 1989. Mr. Filkins was employed by Chemical Leaman Tank Lines, Adams Chevrolet then becoming Fuccillo Chevrolet. He was a US Veteran of the Army Air Corp. Pete enjoyed playing the accordion and harmonica and had an extensive train collection. He also loved mowing his lawn, working in his yard and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Husband of Jane Condo Filkins; father of Donald Filkins and Thomas (Jill) Filkins. Brother of Elizabeth Hayner and the late Edward Shafer, Irena Gadus, Mildred Berical and Charlotte Belfance. Grandfather of Diana (David) Vance, Laura, Brian and Alyssa Filkins. Great Grandfather of Nicholas Vance. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Saturday afternoon at 12:00 all are welcome to attend. Calling hours will be at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Colonie.
