Elsie Chastenay

Brant Lake- Elsie Belle Gleason Chastenay, age 99 of Brant Lake passed away on Monday August 1, 2016. She was born in Glens Falls and lived in Rensselaer before moving to Brant Lake in 2012. Elsie was a homemaker and member of the Broadway United Methodist Church in Rensselaer. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, doing puzzles and watching old TV shows. She was a kind hearted, giving person who was happy doing for others. She loved to cook and bake and her brownies and peanut butter balls were a favorite. Anyone who ever spoke about Elsie did so with a smile on their face. She was the quintessential "Mother, Friend and Grandma". Wife of the late Eugene Chastenay. Mother of Gloria (Patrick) Cornelius, and Darlene (Donald) Butler. Grandmother of Michelle, Scott, Craig and Laura, Great-grandmother of Alana, Sophia, Darin, Dean, Isabel, Dylan and Ava. Sister of the late Harold Gleason. Dear friend of Maggie Allen. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be from the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home on Tuesday morning at 10:00. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. The family would like to thank caregivers, Ellie, Pat and Dorothy and the staff at the Warren Center Nursing Home for their care, concern and support.
