Ellen M. Poli

Wynantskill- Ellen Marie Poli on Wynantskill, NY age 83. Ellen Ford Poli born in Albany, NY the only child to the late Frank and Alice Cassidy Ford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2016 with family beside her. She is survived by her six children, Kathleen A. Hartigan (late Francis), Michael F. Poli, Teresa M. Commerford (late William), Mark A. Poli, Patricia E. Poli and Matthew J. Poli (Lisa), eleven grandchildren, and soon to be eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by Humbert (Al) Poli, her devoted husband of 61 years. Humbert and Ellen met while in middle school and were sweethearts all through high school. They married in 1955. They enjoyed many winters as snowbirds in Tampa; FL. Ellen continued her lifelong friendships with the girls from "club" who were considered family. Ellen graduated St. John's High School in 1950. She started her nursing career with two years at Brady Maternity Hospital after graduating from St. Peter's School of Nursing in 1953. She also impacted many people's lives as a caring nurse during her 30 years at St. Peter's Hospital and as the "neighborhood nurse" while raising her children at Snyders Lake. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Albany Memorial Hospital for their compassion and care. Funeral from the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Monday morning at 8:30 and 9:30 at St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Calling hours will be at the funeral home Sunday from 2-5 PM. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery Glenmont.
