Rensselaer - Elizabeth Lucey, lovingly known to everyone as Betty, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Teresian House. She was the daughter of the late, Vincenzo J. and Jennie (Jordan) Darrigo.
She is survived by her twin sister, Jeannette Giannone of Springfield, IL, and her children: Rich (Paul), Bernadine (Jeff), Connie, Jennifer (Todd), and Katy. Betty was also the proud grandmother to Marie, Amanda, Ashley, Natalie, Jeannette, Benjamin, and Mia, and she cherished her great-grandchildren, Lucca, Noah, Jackson, and Charlotte.
Betty had a deep love for fishing. She was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, always showing unwavering loyalty to her team. Betty took great pride in being a mother and a grandmother, and she was affectionately known as "Grandma Betty" by her family.
After dedicating herself to raising her children, Betty spent over 20 years working with the New York State Teachers Retirement System. She was known for spoiling her family with home-cooked meals and delicious desserts, always making sure everyone felt loved and cared for.
As a devout Catholic she was a longtime communicant of both St. John's the Evangelist in Rensselaer and Historic St. Mary's of downtown Albany, Betty's faith was a guiding light in her life. She was looking forward to being reunited with her beloved mother, Jennie Darrigo, as well as many other family members, friends, and her cherished grand dog, Mason.
The family extends a special thank you to all the staff who cared for Betty over the years at Ingersoll Assisted Living and the Teresian House.
