Rensselaer- Edward "Chris" Yonkers age 87 of Rensselaer passed away on Thursday Nov. 26, 2015 at the Community Hospice at Albany Memorial Hospital. He was born in Albany and lived most of his life in Rensselaer. Chris was a professional fire driver for the City of Rensselaer and was also co owner of C&G Paintining Service. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the James Hill Hook and Ladder Fire Company in Rensselaer, Permanent Fireman Association, Rensselaer Council #267 ,K of C and the Gerald O'Neil America Legion Post # 1683 in Rensselaer. Husband of Mary Saracino Yonkers. Father of Patricia (Tim) Bubniak, Michael (Virginia) Yonkers and Christine Yonkers . Grandfather of Mark Bubniak, Tara (Ryan) Voeltz, Adam Yonkers and Robyn Yonkers. Brother of Paul (Barbara) Yonkers and the late John (Catherine) Yonkers, Sr. Helen Yonkers, RSM and Arthur Yonkers. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Monday morning at 8:30 and 9:30 at Historic St. Mary's Church Lodge Street Albany where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3-6 PM. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery East Greenbush. Contributions in his memory may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer NY 12144. Special thanks to his nephew, Greg Yonkers, for being with him in his final moments. The family would also like to thank Bill VanValkenburg of Community Hospice, Dr. Clotaire Ariste of Memorial Hospital and the 4th floor nursing staff for their care, concern and support.
