Rexford- Dorothy "Dottie" Walker of Coburg Village, passed away December 13, 2024. Dorothy, 96, was born in Amsterdam, NY on July 7, 1928, to Joseph & Caroline Kluska. She grew up in Amsterdam, graduating from the former Wilbur Lynch High School, before moving to Albany and then Rensselaer. Dottie worked as a bookkeeper for Jules Kay Jewelers and then for the State of New York in the Equalization & Assessment Department, retiring in 1995. Once retired, she loved meeting friends for lunch and traveling to Cape Cod, California, Hawaii and South Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Dottie was predeceased by her husbands, Richard Bubniak and Carlton Walker; her brother, Joseph Kluska; stepson, Carlton Walker, Jr.; and her son-in-law, James Thornton, Sr. Dottie was proud of her family and is survived by her four children, Claudia Thornton, Barbara (Robert) Cafarelli, Michael (Virginia) Bubniak and Timothy (Patricia) Bubniak. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Thornton (Nick Spagnoli), James Thornton, Lisa (Michael) Schweigert, Todd Cafarelli (Courtney Stone), Michele (Jonathan) Fry, Cynthia (Craig) Sparry, Mark Bubniak and Tara (Ryan) Voeltz; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Lilybet McLain, Ashton and Rhys Cafarelli, Samuel Spagnoli, Noah Fry, and Caroline and Hunter Voeltz.
Dottie was a long-time communicant of Historic St. Mary’s Church, 10 Lodge Street, Albany, NY, where a calling hour will be held Tuesday morning, December 17, 2024, from 9:30-10:30 and her Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
The family would especially like to thank Dr. Renee Argubano, SPHP Palliative Care and The Community Hospice. Dottie requested that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to ALSAC/St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
