David Burgess

East Greenbush-David E. Burgess, Sr. age, 72 years, passed away on Tuesday May 3, 2016 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. He was born in Albany and lived in Rensselaer for many years before moving to East Greenbush. Dave was a graduate of Van Rensselaer High School and received his Bachelors Degree from Albany State. He was a US Navy veteran serving from 1961-1965. Dave was a 34 year Honorary Life Member of the Gerald O'Neil American Legion Post 1683 in Rensselaer. He was employed as a Director of Life Client Services for Farm Family Insurance working there for 29 years. Dave enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. Son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth McCormack Burgess, Sr.; husband of Christine A. Burns Burgess; father of Beth (Brian) Drzymala and David (Nobulee) Burgess, Jr.; grandfather of Maegan, Jessica and Brice Drzymala and Kaitlyn and Jackson Burgess; brother of Patricia Hogle, Thomas Burgess and the late Connie Sees, Betty Teal, Marjorie Burgess, Joan LaFayette, Richard Burgess and Mary Jane Hall. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Friday morning at 10:00. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Interment with military honors will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
