Burkart, Constance "Connie" AVERILL PARK - Connie Burkart, 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Albany Medical Center on August 11, 2017. She is survived by her dear husband Ernest Burkart Jr., loving children Ernie and Laura, granddaughter sweet Elizabeth, daughter-in-law Lisa Bell Burkart, guardian angel Sister Mary Celestine, and her family, brother Larry (Betsy) Smith and family, sister Nancy (Mike) Fresina and family, nephew Jim (Lori) Dunigan and family, niece Suzanne (Joe) DeGiorgio and family, niece Stacy Smith Wheelock and family, nephew Steven (Amy) Smith and family, niece Annamae (Mike) Frankenbeck and family, nephew Nicholas (Shannon Beck) Fresina and family, niece Carolyn (Zack) DeJoseph and family, brother-in law Dr. Peter (Patricia)T Burkart MD and family, sister-in law Kathy (John) Feiden and family, sister-in law Chris (Nick) Laiacona and family, brother-in law John (Kristina) Burkart and family, and sister-in law Susan Burkart-Jayez and family. She was predeceased by her parents Dr. and Mrs. Charles A. Smith, dear sister Carol Smith Dunigan, brother Charles "Chicky" Smith, and parents in law Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Burkart and her dear friend Sue Curtis. Connie was an employee of the Averill Park School District for 22 years, served the community as President of Twin Town Little League, served as the Youth Program Supervisor for the Town of Sand Lake, President of the Sand Lake Miller Hill PTA, and President of the Non-Instructional Employees Association. Her passions included reading, gardening and hummingbirds. Her family especially thanks the compassionate nurses Eileen and Allison of Albany Medical Center and Dr. David Shaffer for his dedication. Special thanks to Dr. Peter T. Burkart MD for his guidance and care. In lieu of flowers the family asks you to plan a special activity with your friends, family and loved ones. Connie valued experiences over "stuff", and felt that quality time with friends and family matters most. She leaves behind many close friends to Live, Laugh, and Love. Funeral from the W. J. Lyons Funeral Home Wednesday morning at 10:00 and 11:00 at St. Henry's Church Averill Park where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery Colonie.
