Carmela Vona

Carmela (Natale) Vona Carmela (Natale) Vona age 81 of Rensselaer passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Albany Medical Center. She was born in Vitaulazio, Italy on March 15, 1936. She came to America in 1962. She was the daughter of the late Carmine and Annunziata Natale. Sister of Maria Zannetti of Italy. She had been a resident of Rensselaer for the past 51 years. Carmela retired from Cohoes Garment as a seamstress after more than thirty years of service. Carmela enjoyed going to the casinos and Sunday night Bingo with her girlfriends. Above all else she loved her family and enjoyed cooking and baking big Sunday dinners for them. She was a parishioner of St. Johns and St. Josephs Parish in Rensselaer and a member of the St. Anthony's Society. She is survived by her Beloved husband Joseph C. Vona, her daughters Mary Ann Vona and Linda Nardacci (John Nardacci) of Rensselaer. Also survived by her grandchildren, Ava and Anthony Nardacci and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Friday, September 1 at W.J. Lyons Funeral Home, Washington Avenue, Rensselaer from 4-7pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, September 2, at St. Johns and St. Joseph's Church at 10:00am. Interment will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Rensselaer following mass.
