Brian Haggerty

Rensselaer - Brian Frederick Haggerty, born September 12, 1946, to the late John J. Haggerty and Kathlyn Gilbert Haggerty, passed peacefully on March 1, 2025.

A 1965 graduate of St. John's Academy, Brian served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Requin submarine and received an honorable discharge. His professional career was in the telecommunications field, working for New York Tel, GTE, and Sprint Communications. Later, he joined his family in operating several convenience stores under the Mobil flag.

Brian was an active member of his community, currently serving as the Commander of the Gerald O'Neil Post #1683 and as a life member of the James Hill Hook & Ladder Fire Company. A lifelong fan of the NY Yankees, NY Giants, and Notre Dame football, Brian also enjoyed playing golf in his free time. Known for his sense of humor, he was a humble man who cherished his family and friends.

Brian is survived by his brothers Tom (Linda), Kevin (Joyce), and Edmund "Pat" (Leslie); his nieces Jennifer Walther, Cristin McGrath, Megan Lawrence, Kara Leyhane, Emily Odegard, and Kelly Kelly; his nephews Todd, John, Bryan, Aaron, and Andrew Haggerty; and his sister-in-law Helen Haggerty.

He was predeceased by his loving daughter, Geiona, and his brothers Jim and David Haggerty.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. A funeral home service will be held the following morning, Monday, March 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Brian's name to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
