Barry R. Gavigan, Sr.

Rensselaer- Barry R. Gavigan, Sr., 81, passed away at Samaritan Hospital on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Barry was born in Chicago, IL to the late Rose Yakich and John F. Gavigan. Barry lived in Catskill, NY prior to moving to Florida. While in Florida, Barry spent over 30 years as a Corrections Officer, based in Ocala. A proud Vietnam Veteran, Mr. Gavigan served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1963-1969. Barry was a member of local VFW posts and a former member of the American Legion. He loved his extensive coin collection and discussing it with others. Barry was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping.

In addition to his parents, Barry was predeceased by his wife, Margo (Drivas) Gavigan and his siblings, Dennis Gavigan and Kathleen Pough.

Barry is survived by his children, Colleen (Steve) Holton, Barry Gavigan Jr., and Kevin Gavigan; as well as his grandchildren, Krista (Cole) Moon, Justin Klemke, and Courtney (Justin) Gavigan.

At Barry's request, all services will be held privately.
