Rensselaer- Barbara M. Forcinella, at the age of 97, entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Barbara was born on January 28, 1927 in Shelton, Connecticut to the late Michael and Mary Mehaylo. Barbara was predeceased by her brothers Michael and James.
She attended St. Joseph's Academy and graduated from Albany High School in 1944.
Barbara was married to her beloved husband Frank for 65 years before his passing in 2014. Both of whom were devout life-long members of St. John's/St. Joseph's Church in Rensselaer, NY.
Together Barbara and Frank traveled the world. Their favorite spiritual place was Medjugorje in Bosnia/Herzegovina, to which they visited many times and made many incredibly special friends. They made humanitarian trips during the Serbian war bringing supplies to aid the Sisters of St. Joseph, becoming a dear friend of Sister Muriel. Barbara and Frank started the Our Lady, Queen of Peace Prayer group engaging other devoted members of St. John's Church and is still in existence today.
Barbara also loved watching the Yankee's with Frank, taking care of her family, tending to her rose garden, bowling, swimming, cooking, baking and spending time with her life long friend Marion Barlow.
Barbara was the loving mother of Linda (John) Spadaro, Michael (Gayle) Forcinella and Kevin (Ruth) Forcinella. She cherished her grandchildren Lori (David) Sariti, Teresa (Jeffrey) Leiser and deeply loved her five great grandchildren, Emily, Joshua, Joseph, Matthew & Christopher Leiser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church, 53 Herrick Street, Rensselaer. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with the family at the church prior to the mass from 10-11 am. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
