Aldo Petroni

Aldo "Pete" Petroni, of Wynantskill, 86, passed away on July 30, 2018, with his family at his side. Aldo was born to Carlo Petrone and Mary Petrone (Judita Guerrieri) on May 7, 1932, in Rensselaer. Aldo leaves behind his children Dawn Ballenberger (William), Nadine Dederick (Douglas), Michael (Suzie Redhead), his grandchildren Joshua Dederick, Jeremiah Dederick, Matthew Ballenberger, Adam Dederick, Rene Petroni, Gregory Ballenberger, Anthony Petroni, his great grandchildren, Eryn Bruce, Brayden Bruce, Gregory Ballenberger, Kailyn Bruce, Olivia Ballenberger, and his former wife and good friend Margaret Petroni (Forgea). Aldo is also survived by his sister, Ursuline "Sue" Gray, and his brothers Alexander Petrone, Carlo Petrone and Benjamin Petrone. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Josephine and his brother Joseph. Aldo served in the Airforce during the Korean war where he worked as a mechanic on a B47 bomber, tail number 2200. After a long and successful career in the auto parts business and driving ambulance, Aldo retired and spent several days a week, for many years volunteering at the Empire State Aerosciences Museum in Rotterdam restoring planes. Aldo's family would like to thank the staff at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany, the B3 staff at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Hospice for the care and kindness that was provided to Aldo and his family. Donations in his honor may be made to the Empire State Aerosciences Museum at www.esam.org or mailed to 250 Rudy Chase Drive, Glenville, New York 12302. Services will be held on Thursday at 12:00 noon at the W. J. Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will be in the B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville at 2:00 PM.
